STUDIO STAND-UP
STUDIO STAND-UP
Studio Stand-Up returns with some of the most talented comedians on the rise in the region! Don’t miss the return of Pedro Gonzalez to the Appell Center – he was a laugh riot when he appeared on the Capitol Theatre stage in 2021! Pedro riffs on what is like to date, work and live in America when you were not born in America…and you have an accent…and your name is Pedro. His favorite thing about comedy is to defy stereotypes and challenge his audience’s point of view through intelligent humor.
Pedro Gonzalez was born in Colombia and came to the US at 19. He went to UCLA to get a Ph.D. in Literature so he could get a cushy job teaching at a university and work only a few hours a day. That plan collapsed once he found out stand-up comedy requires only one hour of work a day and he’s been chasing that whale ever since.
Cansu is a Kurdish comic living in NYC. She started comedy in the UK where she was nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award and did the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Since moving to NYC in 2021, she’s been featured in the New York Comedy Festival in 2022 and 2023.
Daphne London is a singer/songwriter/comedian from right here in Central PA. In addition to crafting sweet, funny and catchy songs for the past few years, she is also able to create them on the spot on stage. She performs regularly in the DMV area as well as in Central PA, and has even performed on stage at The Kennedy Center. Daphne has hosted Studio Stand-Up with us in the past and we’re happy to have her back!
