Lively roots jazz by Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five brings the Susquehanna Folk Festival’s weekend of dance to a rousing finale! Presented in partnership with Harrisburg’s Lindy Central, the evening features lively roots jazz by Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five, and instruction by champion dancer Carla Crowen. An intro class with Carla will get you started, so no experience is required.

Carla Crowen
Carla Crowen has been teaching Lindy Hop and other forms of vintage swing dancing for over 20 years, traveling the globe as an invited instructor and artist of swing dancing. As creator and director of The Rhythm Lounge / Lindy Central, she is working hard to cultivate a strong community of dance in the Central Pennsylvania area.
Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five
Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five are silly, passionate people who love playing this music. And that’s all there is to it! They draw upon the intensity of powerhouse vocalists, the ingenuity of 20th century composers, and the soul of the dance floor.
Since the fateful day Chelsea invited five friends to play some tunes in a South Philly dining room, she’s been living the dream of singing her favorite songs for audiences that love the music of Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday as much as she does.
The Susquehanna Folk Festival is happening all weekend, August 9-11, and includes lots of FREE programming as well as concerts and dances. See full schedule of events.
