This beloved production brings together professional dancers and the talented pre-professional dancers of the Greater York Youth Ballet of Dance It Forward, creating a cherished holiday tradition for audiences of all ages.
Based on the classic story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Nutcracker unfolds in two acts and begins on Christmas Eve in the 1800s at the home of young Clara and her family. During their festive holiday party, the mysterious Drosselmeyer arrives with a special gift for Clara—a unique Nutcracker doll that soon becomes the center of an extraordinary adventure.
As the evening turns to night, Clara is swept into a magical world where toy soldiers battle mischievous mice, her Nutcracker transforms into a handsome prince, and together they journey through the sparkling Kingdom of Snow to the enchanting Land of Sweets.
Filled with breathtaking choreography, beautiful costumes, memorable characters and the wonder of Tchaikovsky’s iconic music, The Nutcracker Ballet is a holiday experience filled with tradition, imagination, mystery and magic.
