    More about JOHN MORELAND

Singer-songwriter John Moreland hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma and is known for crafting songs that cut straight to the heart. With a voice both tender and weathered, and lyrics that balance vulnerability with hard-won wisdom, Moreland has earned a devoted following as one of the most compelling storytellers in modern Americana.

Born in Texas and raised across the South and Midwest, Moreland found his first musical home in Tulsa’s punk and hardcore scene before gravitating toward the raw, narrative power of folk and roots music. That blend of intensity and introspection has shaped his writing ever since. His breakout album, In the Throes (2013), introduced listeners to his stark, emotionally charged style, earning widespread praise and placing several songs in the hit series Sons of Anarchy.

Moreland followed with High on Tulsa Heat (2015) and Big Bad Luv (2017), albums that further established his reputation as a songwriter unafraid to explore doubt, hope, grief and redemption with clarity and compassion. His live performances—often intimate, unadorned and deeply affecting—have become a hallmark of his artistry.

Never one to stand still, Moreland expanded his sonic palette with LP5 (2020) and Birds in the Ceiling (2022), incorporating subtle electronic textures and modern production while keeping the emotional core of his work intact. After taking a restorative break from touring, he returned with Visitor (2024), a self-recorded collection that marks a renewed commitment to simplicity, honesty and his musical craft.

With each album, Moreland continues to evolve while remaining rooted in the qualities that set him apart: keen observation, genuine vulnerability and songs that linger long after the last note fades.

    More about PATTERSON HOOD

Patterson Hood is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, guitarist and co-founder of the Southern rock band Drive-By Truckers. Born in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Hood grew up immersed in the region’s rich musical heritage, with his father, David Hood, being a renowned session bassist for the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. Drawing inspiration from storytelling traditions and a passion for rock, country and soul, Hood’s music often explores themes of Southern identity, social justice and personal introspection. While best known as frontman, singer, songwriter and guitar player for Drive-By Truckers, he is also a writer of essays, columns, and short stories as well as a solo performer and producer. Since forming Drive-By Truckers in 1996 with Mike Cooley, Hood has been a driving force behind the band’s narrative-driven sound, blending gritty, guitar-heavy arrangements with evocative lyrics. Albums like Southern Rock Opera (2001) and The Dirty South (2004) have solidified their reputation as one of the most influential Southern rock bands of their generation. Beyond his work with the Truckers, Hood has released solo albums—Killers and Stars (2004) and Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance (2012)—showcasing his versatility as a songwriter. His newest solo album, Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams, produced by Chris Funk (The Decemberists), was released on ATO Records in February 2025. Whether fronting the Truckers or performing solo, Patterson Hood remains a vital force in modern music, celebrated for his ability to turn life’s raw realities into compelling, soul-stirring art, and continues to be a powerful voice in contemporary Americana and Southern rock.
