Join the Appell Center and partners Keystone Opera and the York Youth Symphony Orchestra Chamber Program for a day-long celebration of all things music! Part of York’s Make Music Day, there are a wide variety of events to participate in or enjoy.
11:00AM – 11:45AM: Musical Theater Karaoke. Come perform your favorite musical theater hits on the Capitol Theatre stage!
12:00PM – 1:30PM: Open Jazz Jam with house band Larry Marshall, Jr, Kris Kostoff, and Mark Holman. All ages and experience levels welcome!
2:00PM – 2:30PM: New music premiere, with the York Youth Symphony Orchestra Chamber Program. Come listen to the first ever performance of pieces written by local composers for the YYSO’s Chamber Program.
3:30PM – 5:00PM: Keystone Opera’s afternoon of arias.
This performance features exceptional singers from across the United States, Canada, Korea, and China—emerging professionals, conservatory students and recent graduates—united by their passion for opera. Accompanists Scott Crowne and Andrew Milston will be at the piano, supporting voices shaped by an elite faculty: Dr. Stacey Mastrian, internationally renowned soprano based in Seattle, and Dr. Scott Crowne, Professor of Vocal Coaching at the Peabody Conservatory and Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College.
The Keystone Opera Summer Intensive is founded and directed by dramatic soprano Leah Crowne, empowering the next generation of operatic talent through rigorous training, mentorship, and performance opportunities.
