Here & Heard: One Story at a Time is an afternoon celebrating the power of original storytelling through poetry, dramatic performance, improv and more.

Featuring storytellers from Central PA, New York City, Baltimore and beyond, Here & Heard brings together a dynamic collection of voices and perspectives for an experience that explores identity, history, grief, resilience, joy, healing and transformation.

Inspired by the words of Sankofa Executive Artistic Director Sharia Benn — “Peace comes when we pick up the pieces and put them back together in a way that makes us stronger” — the program invites audiences to experience how art can help us reflect, reconnect, rebuild and imagine what is possible.

One Story at a Time — because every piece involved has the power to heal, rebuild and inspire.

Proceeds from Here & Heard benefit Sankofa African American Theatre Company and its continued work to amplify our stories and create space for artists and community through the performing arts.

Doors open at 2:30. Come then to enjoy food, music, and time to connect before settling in for an afternoon of live performances – then stay with us as the music continues and we close the day in celebration and community.
