The brand new Open Air Summer Series celebrates the return to in-person concerts. We are excited to see all our patrons once again! Felix Mendelssohn scored his Suite from A Midsummer Night’s Dream being inspired by Shakespeare’s play filled with fairies and spells. Mendelssohn composed the imaginative melodies to magical fanfare with Romantic-era expression. Unpublished for over 100 years, Fanny Mendelssohn’s Overture In C Major builds upon its slow awakening to a lively allegro. Inspired by James Agee’s A Death in the Family, Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer Of 1915 reminiscences about childhood memories.
