Wynton Marsalis is joined by musicians from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) for a special virtual concert celebrating jazz’s embodiment of freedom and democracy. This evening promises to entertain, inspire, and uplift with the full vigor, vision, and depth of America’s music.

This virtual concert event is an endcap to Strathmore’s Monuments: Creative Forces outdoor exhibition that celebrates artists whose work and artistic endeavors are changing the shape of our community in profound ways.

Marsalis is an icon among artists speaking truth to power and this streamed performance features the premiere of The Democracy Suite, a new Marsalis composition written during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis as a response to the political, social, and economic struggles facing our nation. The Democracy Suite is a swinging and stimulating instrumental rumination on the issues that have recently dominated our lives as well as the beauty that could emerge from a collective effort to create a better future.

Tickets are available through the distributor. Tickets are not available through the Appell Center box office.

A portion of your ticket price is shared with the Appell Center. Please note that this arrangement, in these unprecedented times, means we are not able to accept Member passes or other discounts. Thank you for your understanding and support.
