The 2019 Appell Center for the Performing Arts Summer SHAKESCOOL Academy is designed to offer actors a life-changing encounter with William Shakespeare. Complete with world-class Shakespeare expert instructors, Shakescool is more than just Shakespeare in the classroom or Shakespeare in the park, Shakescool is a dynamic conservatory experience for performers interested in personal and artistic growth. Students can expect to be both surprised and inspired by a Shakespeare that lives in the “ups and downs” of their everyday lives. A Shakespeare that will prove to be not just relevant in our times--but needed. A Shakespeare that demands brutal honesty and genuine empathy. Shakescool will lead actors on a journey of artistic excellence and self-discovery. It’s not just Shakespeare--it’s Shakespeare NOW.
To break the stigma and the stereotype; to give expression to the things deeply hid.
To ellevate the spoken work to craft, the common actor to the role of sage --
And do all this by way of William Shakespeare.
