Oct 9, 2019

The Appell Center for the Performing Arts in downtown York is excited to announce that they are now offering military and veterans discounts for CapComedy and CapFilm events in the Capitol Theatre. U.S. Military Personnel and veterans are invited to enjoy a $2 discount on all CapComedy and CapFilm ticket purchases for themselves and up to three guests. Tickets must be purchased by showing military ID at the Box Office in advance or at the door before a show to redeem the discount.

“It is an honor to show our appreciation for those who have so bravely served this country. We hope they, their families, and their friends will make great memories here in our theatres,” said Todd Fogdall, CEO & President, Appell Center for the Performing Arts.

All military personnel or veterans looking to purchase discounted tickets can stop by the Appell Center Box Office at 50 N. George Street in York, PA. For a full list of upcoming CapComedy and CapFilm events, military and veterans’ families can go to AppellCenter.org.

About the Capitol Theatre:

The Capitol Theatre dates all the way back to 1906 and has a rich history as an entertainment and film landmark in downtown York. The Capitol Theatre reopened after a long-awaited full-scale renovation in October 2018 and has been buzzing with entertainment ever since.

CapComedy Series:

The Appell Center’s CapComedy series began in 2017 and features nationally-touring stand-up comedians every second Friday of the month. Tickets are only $10 per person ($8 with military and veteran discount). CapComedy guests enjoy a full bar and a wide variety of concessions options and are invited to bring their drinks and food into the theatre.

CapFilm Series:

The Appell Center’s CapFilm series has grown considerably in the past few years, now featuring multiple films per week including the classics, new releases, concert films, silent films, family favorites and so much more. The Capitol Theatre also features a 1927 Mighty Wurlitzer organ that is played 30 minutes prior to each film as patrons enter. It’s a fan favorite! Ticket prices range based on event. Snacks and beverages including beer and wine are available for purchase and can be brought into the theatre.

Some restrictions to the military/veterans’ discount may apply. See website for details.
