Appell Center Announces Capitol Theatre Grand Reopening Celebration

Oct 11, 2018

LARGE-SCALE EXTERIOR APPELL CENTER SIGN TO BE REVEALED OCT 25

York, PA – October 11, 2018 – The Appell Center for the Performing Arts is excited to announce that downtown York’s historic Capitol Theatre will reopen beginning October 24, 2018, following a 6-month, $2 million interior renovation. The Appell Center is celebrating this momentous occasion with over two weeks of non-stop entertainment plus the dramatic reveal of a new, large-scale exterior Appell Center sign. The community is invited to gather at the northeast corner of Philadelphia and North George streets at 6:05 PM on Thursday, October 25, to witness the sign’s unveiling prior to the evening’s sold-out performance by Bruce Hornsby.

In addition to the exciting new exterior beacon, Capitol Theatre patrons can anticipate the best of both old and new in the 450-seat theatre. Highlights include all new seating and restrooms, improved sightlines and concessions areas, and the latest in film projector and audio technology – all accompanied by the charming architectural details that have made the building a beloved York city landmark for over 100 years.
