The Appell Center is pleased to bring Broadway professionals directly to the students of York. Master Classes offer the opportunity to work directly with the teaching artists or to learn by observing.
Topics will include: Acting the Song, Monologues, Audition Techniques, Vocal Health, Dance/Movement, Stage Management, Directors and more.
Audience: York County students ages 14-21 and Theater/Music Teachers

Audition Techniques with Kyle Post

At The Studio at the Appell Center
Join the Appell Center for an opportunity to hone your auditioning skills working with Broadway star, Kyle Post! In this 180-minute workshop Mr. Post will work with up to 15 Participating students on best practices of acting through the song. Students are welcome to learn while observing if they prefer. A Q&A about Mr. Post’s experiences in shows such as RENT, Kinky Boots and Spiderman: Turn off the Dark, will be included.
• $40 Participating Students: prepare a 1-2 min cut (or approx. 32 bars) of an audition song that showcases storytelling and range.
• $20 Observing Students
Students will be required to show Proof of Vaccine or a Negative COVID test per Appell Center policy.
About the Instructor:
Kyle Post has starred in the Broadway shows RENT, Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark and Kinky Boots. He has also worked with performers from newcomers to Broadway legends as a life coach. Kyle is currently studying at Longwood Gardens as a Professional Horticulture Student to amplify his green thumb skills.
